Refrigeration Technician Level 1

Location: Cashmere, WA

Job Description:

SHIFT: Day Shift
Starting pay: $28.00-$32.00 DOE

The Purpose of the Refrigeration Technician is to safely maintain and support necessary repairs of our ammonia refrigeration equipment that optimizes facility safety and operational efficiency.

Job Duties:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The Refrigeration Technician should have good working knowledge of ammonia systems, refrigeration and associated equipment and systems.
• Must be able to effectively start up and shut down plant refrigeration equipment and systems.
• Must be able to effectively troubleshoot issues with refrigeration equipment.
• Keep work orders, log books, and records current and properly documented.
• Choose the correct materials and equipment for each application. Use food grade materials in food contact areas. Sanitary weld in all processing area’s which must be cleaned and sanitized.
• Be able to safely troubleshoot and repair basic electrical problems.
• Be able to troubleshoot basic control problems.
• Follow all plant safety rules, guidelines and other policies including Good Manufacturing Practices (or GMP), lockout-tagout, confined space, etc.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Use forklifts, man-lifts and other mechanized equipment as necessary for each specific job.
• Work in a professional manner and maintain a professional working environment that could successfully pass an audit by customers or governmental agencies at any time.
• Work in cold environment – gloves provided (temperature 36-40 degrees).
• Work around chemicals – (including Chlorine, Quat, PAA).
• Work in a loud environment – hearing protection provided and mandatory.
• Ability to stand long periods of times
• Ability to climb stairs.
• Ability to bend and stoop.
• Ability to work in a repetitive motion environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to distinguish color .
• Ability to have limited time away from work area (ready to begin work on time, return from breaks and lunches in a timely manner, reduced unnecessary time away from work area).
• Ability to sustain good attendance as outlined in the Crunch Pak attendance policy.
• Any other duties as directed by your Supervisor or Manager.

Qualifications:

• Capable of performing tasks that require bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling, stooping, and climbing ladders
• Must be able to respond to occasional after hours needs related to refrigeration equipment.
• Must be qualified and physically able to constantly maintain respirator certification and wear a cartridge respirator regularly while performing job tasks.
• Must be able to read and write in English.
• Can identify all lines, valves and components related to the operation of the refrigeration system.
• Must be able to follow instructions.
• Must be able to learn and understand how to safely use chemicals and personal protective equipment (or PPE).

Education and/or Work History:

• 2+ years certification in refrigeration.
• Experience and understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) programs highly desirable.
• Bilingual English / Spanish desirable.
